Nicaragua, the largest country of Central America, is known as the land of lakes and volcanoes, is an extraordinary undiscovered land with diverse tourist attractions, interesting culture, great history and unbelievable landscapes. It is the home to Granada (founded in 1524) and Leon, two of the oldest cities in Latin America. Lake Nicaragua is the largest freshwater lake in Central America and is home to the world’s only freshwater sharks (Bull sharks).

ITINERARY

DAY 1. MANAGUA

Upon arrival at the airport in Managua, the country’s capital city you will be met by our guide who will escort you to the hotel. Balance of the day at leisure. Overnight in Managua.

DAY 2.  LEON VIEJO & COLONIAL LEON    

Breakfast at the hotel. Journey to the ruins of the Old City of Leon, the first capital of Nicaragua for over 200 years, founded by Spanish Captain Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba in 1524. Relocated to its current location in the year of 1610 due to volcanic eruptions from Momotombo volcano. The ruins of Leon Viejo were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 2000.  Today you will enjoy a visit to the museum of the illustrious Nicaraguan renowned international poet Ruben Dario who initiated the Spanish-American literary movement known as Modernismo that flourished at the end of the 19th century. Stopover at the Central Park and enjoy a visit to Leon’s La Asuncion Cathedral, the largest religious colonial building in Central America.  Lunch included. Overnight in Leon

DAY 3.  FLOR DE CAŇA RUM FACTORY

Breakfast at the hotel. A Journey through the history of the most awarded rum in the world “Flor de Caña”.  You will be able to tour the factory and learn about how the rum is processed. You will see the Rum Vault, Rum Barrel storage centre; watch a video presentation of the history of the factory and its rum production. You will also be able to sample some of the delightful rum before visiting the Flor de Cana museum and shop at the boutique. Lunch included. Overnight in Leon.

DAY 4.  MASAYA VOLCANO & SHOPPING TOUR

Breakfast at the hotel.Explore the Masaya Volcano National Park and have a great time shopping for souvenirs at the city of Masaya, the handicrafts capitals of Nicaragua. This half day tour includes a visit to the Masaya Volcano, the first and largest national park establish in Nicaragua since 1979. This volcanically complex has an area of 54 km² includes two volcanoes and five craters having an elevation of 635 meters about sea level. This geological formation is part of the Quaternary volcanic range and its today, the only volcano in the western hemisphere where you are able to drive to the rim. Next, enjoy free time shopping for souvenirs at the city of Masaya including a visit to the famous hummocks factory and to the handicrafts market. Lunch included. Overnight in Granada.

DIA 5. GRANADA CARRAIAGE TOUR

Breakfast at the hotel. Travel around Granada on a Carriage Tour and Discover culture and history of the third-oldest city in the Americas founded in 1524! Rest of the day at leisure. Today you can explore the street of La Calzada by your own. Overnight in Granada.

DAY 6.  MOMBACHO ADVENTURE  

Breakfast at the hotel. Amazing expedition into the trails of the Mombacho Volcano + Zip Line Tour! The Mombacho Volcano Natural Reserve is one of the 78 protected areas of Nicaragua. Walk thru the nature trails between cloud and dwarf forest and discover yourself the most beautiful landscape of Nicaragua.  This tourist attraction has fantastic views of Lake Nicaragua and the city of Granada.  Enjoy a delicious lunch and spend the rest of the day Zip line or Canopy across the treetops at the Mombacho Volcano using the most advanced high angle equipment and technology. Overnight in Granada.

DAY 7.  OMETEPE ISLAND

Breakfast at the hotel. Land transfer to the port of San Jorge in Rivas, ferry crossing for the expedition to Ometepe Island declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in the year 2010. Today, you will enjoy some of the most spectacular views in all Nicaragua while we are visiting interesting places like the Numismatic and pre-Columbian museum El Ceibo,  we will spend time at El Ojo de Agua that consist of crystal clear spring-fed waters captured in two natural, stone pools set in the middle of a gorgeous and colorful botanical gardens. Lunch included.  Overnight in Santo Domingo beach at Ometepe Island.

DAY 8.  OMETEPE ISLAND

Breakfast at the hotel. Spend the day at leisure exploring nature or relaxing at the fresh water beach. Overnight in Santo Domingo beach at Ometepe Island.

DAY 9. MANAGUA

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer and ferry return to the port of San Jorge. Continue to the Capital City of Managua. Overnight in Managua

DAY 10. AIRPORT

Breakfast at the hotel.  Transfer to the airport for your return home.
